I use JRiver because it will handle any kind of audio file include ISO rips of SACDs. And if you can't find what you're looking for ask, somebody will have a solution. As far as setting it up, you could consult the forums at the JRiver for instructions on how to set it up.

You can link a tablet or a smart phone to control it, so you don't really need to output to video to play music, but it's best to use the video interface for setting it up. I use it mostly for audio, but my brother uses it mostly for video. I use JRiver, but it's more of Swiss Army knife than it is strictly for music. I've used JRMC in the past but found that their interface was not as intuitive as I would have liked.īased on what I've got and what I want, what would you recommend and why? So which should I get? I already have Foobar 2000 set to WASAPI. I don't need to cast to other rooms and outside of my PC and I'd like to stream to my HiFi. One major issue is that the majority of my music is classical and while I have it very neatly catalogued on the HD in folders, Audirvana doesn't present it this way and I suspect that Roon would be similar. I have a Kaiser Baas Soundshift attached to my HiFi which accepts DLNA connections and it does work with my iPad I have a near field system from Edifier with a subwoofer. I have headphones (Audeze LCD1, Sennheiser HD580 and 6XX, Flare Gold iems My music outputs to a Schiit Modi 3+ fed into an Asgard 3 My 'core' is a Dell standalone with 8Gb of RAM run by an Intel i5 chip I have 2000+ CDs ripped to FLAC on an external SSD

So what have I got and what am I looking for? JRiver will also connect with Qobuz apparently. I've use JRMC in the past but have struggled to get things working, especially my media library. I also realise that Roon does this as well but it's expensive.

I like that Audirvana can have my music library correlate with my Qobuz subscription, handily putting all of it in one place. Also featuring from my research was JRiver Media Centre, Roon and Plex. I downloaded the studio version (maybe the the other version might have been better) and have been giving it a trial run. A recent post where 'bit perfect' was mentioned also mentioned Audirvana.
